(1) Lower Level Option:
This is, provisionally, an out-and-back Y-shaped route sticking largely to forestry roads due to current storm damage affecting many of the forest paths. Forest and Land Scotland has closed Jocks' Road and the riverside paths within the forest, except for the route to Corrie Fee which is open (at time of planning). Furthest points are Corrie Fee and /or the top of the forest using the Jock's Road diversion on the opposite bank. Can become a loop if paths are cleared by spring. This option is more suitable for slower walkers, and is suitable for dogs on leads. Led by Peter F.
(2) Higher Level Option
This route, the exact final details of which are weather-dependent, includes one or both of the summits Mayar and Dreish, both of which are Munros (over 3,000 feet/914.4 metres). Ascent to the plateau is via the well-built path by the waterfall in Corrie Fee; the descent to Glen Doll car park is using the Kilbo Path; however the walk can be tackled in the reverse direction. This walk is for fit, well equipped walkers and is not suitable for dogs. Expect rough conditions underfoot in places, especially loose stones on descending the Kilbo Path. Total ascent (both peaks) approx. 820 metres/ 2700 feet. If weather is judged too dangerous at altitude, only option (1) may go ahead. Final leader to be confirmed.
Option 1 can be muddy in places. Slow, steady ascent of 200 metres to Corrie Fee; this path becomes rougher after end of forestry road. Option 2 - see above. Toilets at Ranger Centre in Car Park.
