We are the Chester-le-Street Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Dipton Dawdle
This is a Moderate 8 miles (13 km) route.
The walk follows field paths and woodland tracks from Dipton, through Ewehurst Wood, to Hamsterley Mill. Here, we join the railway cycle path (Derwent Walk) heading West towards Consett, but leave the path at White Byerside to cross more fields to Medomsley. Then, more field paths to Bradley Hall, and return to Dipton via Billingside Woods.
There are a number of stiles on this route, fields with livestock in, and a few hills to climb. However, there are also some superb views which make the effort well worthwhile.

Directions from Chester le Street to Start Point
From Chester-Le-Street take the A693 towards Stanley, through Stanley, and stay on the A693 past Annfield Plain to the junction with the A692. Turn Right (signposted Gateshead / Dipton).
Follow the A692 into Dipton, pass Collierley School on the left, and 100 yards after the pedestrian crossing with traffic lights, turn left into the car park in front of Dipton Surgery.
