A walk from The Story in Durham
This is a moderate walk of about 5 miles and takes us from The Story through Low Burnhall Woods on grassy well trodden paths then into Houghall Woods which hopefully have an abundance of Bluebells. There are a few inclines and one steep short incline to get us onto a path towards the Botanical Gardens. (A second option for lunch) We will then wind our way through the university buildings back to The Story.
We do cross the A177 and if it has been raining there will be some mud around. Walking poles are recommended for the hilly parts of the walk
Start Time & Location: Meet at 10.30am at The Story. The shortest way from Chester le Street is on the A167 and taking a left turn onto the A177 signed for Durham and the Crematorium. Continue past the new builds and the entrance into the Story is well signed with brown tourist signs 'The Story at Mount Oswald'. The entrance is just past the Crematorium entrance but on your left. The postcode is DH1 3TQ and will get you to the entrance. What 3 words ///duke.pops.curving
Please note there is a one way system in operation, the exit is to the back of the building
Refreshments are available at The Story which has a free car park, nice cafe, toilets, museum and is the new location for the registry offices. I am unable to reserve tables but there are plenty seats inside and out.
