Tiger Bay Ramblers welcomes everyone on its walks but in 2025 we are launching a new walking and hiking group for people in their 20s-30s, for younger people based in South Wales. If you are under 40 years of age and looking to have fun, get fit, and meet a welcoming bunch of people, then this will be the ideal group for you!
In this walk our 20s-30s group we will be offering a joint walk with our main TBR walking group - so everyone is welcome to come along.
From the Tourist Information Centre next to Chepstow castle we will cross the bridge over the Wye, heading over the border from Wales into England. Following parts of The Gloucestershire Way we will climb up a short hill and onto Offa's Dyke path, along the River Wye past an old quarry and Wintours Leap, before arriving at Lancaut Nature Reserve. A visit to the remains of St James Church (used until 1865) will provide our stop for lunch, before we chart a new route back to Chepstow.
On Sundays the Castle Dell car park costs £1.30 all day.
The walk start time should facilitate those coming by train to travel from Cardiff and walk the additional half a mile (approximately 20 minutes) from the station to the meeting point. Please check train times nearer the date and make your own arrangements as to how and when to reach the walk start point. The walk leader is not responsible for if and when trains may operate, and the walk will start on time.
Attendee's should come prepared for the weather on the day, and may wish to bring drink and snacks for rest breaks during the walk. Toilet facilities will be available at the start and end of the walk only.
Small sections of the route will cross over and take place alongside a busy main roads, and we will cross fields where sheep and cattle may be grazing. Dogs are welcome if well behaved and kept under close control by their owners.
If you are interested in joining our new new walking group for younger people but are not available for this walk, please contact secretary@tigerbayramblers.org.uk to register your interest.
