We are the Southwold (Yate) Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Santa and I have cancelled the walk in the Forest of Dean because it was longer than the book indicated and there was a good chance of not finishing until dark. Santa couldn't supply a red-nosed reindeer to guide us as it wasn't December 24th.
The new walk will start at the top of Cotswold Lane in Old Sodbury (ample parking on the road) near the primary school and church. Post code is BS37 6NE.
The first stretch is on the Cotswold Way climbing up to the hillfort then down to Little Sodbury where we'll turn on to the Monarch's Way crossing fields that were soggy but presented no problem for walking boots when I recce'd it. Eventually reaching a track we move on to the third way, the Jubilee Way, which we follow, ascending to the church (visitors welcome but please remove muddy boots before entering!) and back to the cars.
Boots or wellies are essential.
Please bring food and drink for the breaks.
There are 4 stiles, one of them a stone stile.
