We are the East Cheshire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Adlington Road Car Park, Bollington (SJ9307078045 SK10 5HG 53.2993N 2.10544W, 10am, 4.5 to 5.5. miles (depending whether I have time to recce the additional section) and about 500 ft of ascent. Some stiles and steps, mostly good paths/tracks and some road walking.
From Adlington Road car park (toilets) we follow the Middlewood Way and Macclesfield Canal to Clarke Lane, then a field path and up Rally Road; from the top we go along the hillside (views of the Cheshire plain) to the former Redway and follow the track below White Nancy to Waulkmill, then on to Sowcar and back through Bollington to cross the canal at Clarence Mill and cross the recreation ground to return to the car park.
Bring drink and snack for a coffee stop. Start can be reached by public transport - catch the No.10 bus from Macclesfield Bus Station at 9:10, descend at viaduct (around 9:30-9:35) just before Adlington Rd., car park is about two minutes walk from bus stop.
