Allensford
This is a moderate route - approximately 5.5 miles - starting from Allensford Holiday Park. From the car park, we head west across the field and onto the A68 bridge that crosses the River Derwent. Once over the bridge, we pick up the footpath that runs east along the river bank, past a small wetland nature reserve and close to the outskirts of Bridgehill. We then head north towards the B6278 road and do a very brief section of road walking, before heading south, just before Snods Edge. We pass through some woodland and farmland before joining a quiet country lane for a short stretch. We then pick up a path along Holerow Fell, with great views of Hownsgill Viaduct, in the distance. Finally, we descend downhill, past the Derwent Manor Hotel and back over the river, to the start point. There are a few muddy stretches and some gentle climbing in places, but it is a relatively straightforward route.
After the walk, the cafe plan is the Cafe at Inn on the Park, which you can see at the entrance to Allensford Holiday Park.
