Overview

PLACES ON OUR WALKS MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE.

A short winter walk at a leisurely pace including the snowdrops around St Michael's Church, Verulamium Park and St Albans Abbey. We will have a stop for tea/coffee/cake in the Abbey cafe. The path to the Abbey is up hill but we will take it slowly. The walk is all on paved surfaces.

We will be able to see the Museum of the Moon Exhibition in the Abbey. This consists of a moon, 7 metres in diameter, suspended in the nave. It is based on detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface combined with moonlight and a surround sound composition. Well worth seeing! There is no charge for this exhibition.

The car park for Verulamium Park and Museum in St Albans. There is a charge of £2.70 for 3 hours. Sorry about this. It has increased from £2 last year. If you are feeling fit and don't mind hills, you can park in the lay-by in King Harry Lane and walk down through the park (about 5-10mins) or go round to Bluehouse Hill and through the church yard (about 15 mins). I will be in the lay-by at 9.30 and will walk down to the car park with anyone who would like to walk with me.
