Start at the trust car park in Llanuwchllyn. There are no toilets at the car park but there are some in the village as you drive in.
This is an out and back route taking in the two main peaks of Aran Benllyn and Aran Fawddwy.
The height of Aran Fawddwy is 905 meters or 2,971 feet, higher than Cadair Idris at 893 meters, so all being well there should be some great views of the surrounding area and looking out over Bala Lake.
This is a steady walk out along the ridge, gradually increasing height as we go, at a group pace. The route can be very boggy in places and some of the duck boards over these areas have seen better days so gaiters and waterproof boots would be advised. The return route will back along the same ridge line. The majority of the route is on a well defined trail over grassland. There is s short steep section of loose scree/stones leading up onto Aran Benllyn. Also there is short boulder field to climb up to the summit of Aran Fawddwy which could be classed as an easy scramble, so boots with ankle support and grip would be advised.
This is a full days walking so you need sufficient food and fluids to last you the day. We will be having plenty of stops along the route to top the energy levels up.
