Overview

If you would like to join the walk and are NOT part of the Stockport Ramblers weekend away please book to confirm a place by contacting the walk leader Angie Bryant 07940 996218.

Parking in Arnside is limited, especially on a bank holiday weekend, so if you are on the Stockport Ramblers weekend away car sharing is essential.

Stockport Ramblers Grade C. 7.5miles. 766 feet of ascent. Leisurely pace. One hilly section.

Geology: limestone, so can be slippery underfoot when wet.

Free parking for this walk is roadside parking along the Arnside Beach waterfront. We will meet at the Pier at 9.45 and follow the coast for a short time before turning inland to begin the main ascent of the day to Arnside Knott where magnificent views across Morecambe Bay, and on a clear day the South Lakes fells, await us for a well deserved coffee break. From here we descend to the imposing Arnside Tower and after a short walk along the edge of Middlebarrow Plain and across fields our terrain changes , alternating between shoreline and woodland paths, from Far Arnside, around Park Point, where we will have a lunch break, Arnside Point,  Blackstone Point, Frith Wood and Grubbins Wood  and back to Arnside Pier where pubs and cafes wait to reward our efforts with refreshment.

This route may be walked in reverse depending on the tide times and weather forecast.

As there will be new lambs in fields and the possibility of narrow, exposed paths NO DOGS are allowed in this walk.

If you would like any more information please contact the walk leader Angie Bryant 07940 996218.
