Overview

A circular walk around the top of Blorenge mountain from Pen-ffordd-goch Pond (Keeper's Pond), using old tramway tracks and part of the Cambrian way, which are both rocky in places. Spectacular views on a clear day.

Bring mid-morning refreshments and a picnic lunch to eat by the pond at the end of the walk (weather permitting).

As it is further away than our usual Tuesday morning walks, I recommend car sharing from Wilton Road car park in Ross, for those in or near Ross.

From Abergavenny take the A465 towards Merthyr Tydfil, turn off at the first junction towards Llanfoist and Govilon. Follow the B4246 and brown signs for Big Pit, the road forks off to the left and climbs up Blorenge. After about 2.5 miles Pen-ffordd-goch Pond (Keeper's Pond) car park is on the left.
