Hello Everyone
Our last 2024 venture into Derbyshire takes place this Sunday with walk leaders Jan & Karl's sortie over to Dovedale and Thorpe from Ashbourne. Varied terrain including parts of the Tissington Trail, field and riverside footpaths, a little road walking, a few stiles, and the Dovedale stepping stones assuming they're passable. We'll divert if not. Some hills - as you'd expect in this part of the world - make this a Moderately graded walk.
Our leaders also advise of an interesting cake selling establishment en route (that accepts cash only).
Why not join us? You're most welcome come along and try us out. Great if you could let us know a day or two beforehand please if this is your very first walk with ourselves. Thank you!
Registration: 09.15. Walk start: 09.30. Walk leaders: Karl & Jan (07403 756416 & 07917 875509)
Loo's available a few minutes after the start, and also twenty minutes or so before lunch break.
⚠️A day parking charge of £6 applies at our start point. Car sharing from Hednesford is therefore encouraged.
Post walk refreshment venue to be decided on the day.
Looking forward to seeing you all there on Sunday morning.
Directions. Primarily for our own members, but good for anybody arriving from the south via the A515 & the A50.
The start is located some 300 yards before Ashbourne town centre, and just off the A515.
From the south come in via the A515 until you reach the first island on the outskirts of Ashbourne. Straight across here, still A515, retail park on your left, then straight over again at the retail park access island.
From here proceed for 600 yards to turn left in front of The Surgery (photo above) then right at the mini-island to pass the leisure centre on your right, all in short order. Park up towards the far end of the car park. ⚠️Pay & display (£6.00 all day) with cash, via the app, or by phone, but not cards. Car sharing obviously encouraged to spread this cost.
