Overview

Hello Everyone

This Sunday we're resurrecting a walk that we cancelled earlier this year due to snowy conditions.

Walk leaders John & Carol's route takes us from Chasetown over to Brownhills and returns via the McClean Way towards Pelsall before heading back to base. All on a mixture of terrain including good paths, canal towpath, repurposed railway trackbed, and a little road walking. Pretty much flat throughout. No stiles, but there maybe some muddy bits here and there depending on what the weather does in the coming days.

As ever, you're most welcome to join us. If this is your first time out with ourselves we'd appreciate it if you could let us know a day or two beforehand. Thank you.

Registration: 09.15. Walk start: 09.30.  Walk leaders: John & Carol (07761 545764)

Loo's available some 300 yards down the road from the start near Chasetown bowling green, or within Burntwood Leisure Centre (WS7 3XH) approximately half a mile north of the start off High Street, Chasetown, convenient if you're arriving via the A5190 Cannock to Lichfield road.

Post walk refreshments at the Uxbridge Arms, Chasetown. No Chasetown FC footie so we'll all get in!

⚠️Our own members should note that there will be no rendezvous at Hednesford for this local walk. Please go direct to the start.

See you all there on Sunday morning.

Directions: The start is located 1.5 miles north of the A5 near Brownhills, or an equidistant five miles between Cannock and Lichfield via the A5190. Screenshots of the final approaches in the photos above to aid you. What3words recommended for total satvav accuracy.

From the A5: Take the turning for Burntwood and the M6 Toll at the lights north of Brownhills and proceed for 200 yards to the island where straight over, to shortly pass over the M6T bridge. At the next island (known locally as The Triangle) turn left into Highfields Road, direction Chasetown.

Enter Chasetown after 0.6 mile. At the mini-island opposite the Co-op turn right into High Street and proceed for 125 yards to the next mini-island where straight over and up the High Street for a further 125 yards. The car park entrance is on your left just past The Crown public house opposite and immediately before the pedestrian crossing.

From Hednesford & Cannock: Pick up the A5190 eastbound at Five Ways Island, Heath Hayes, and follow for 1 mile to the next island where second exit (A5190 Miners Way). Proceed for 0.65 mile to the next island where turn left, still A5190.

Continue, over another island, and pass Morrisons on your left. Immediately after Morrisons turn right at the next island into High Street, Chasetown, and continue for 0.65 mile over the crest of the hill and into the business end of High Street, over the speed bumps. Look out for the pedestrian crossing and turn right into the large tarmac car park immediately afterwards.

From Lichfield: Via the A5190 direction Burntwood to Swan Island where straight across. Continue for 1 mile, up the hill, and over the next two crossroads, both with lights, later passing the school and the Wych Elm pub on your right.

At the next island take the second left with Aldi on your right afterwards, then 150 yards later turn left at the island onto High Street, Chasetown, and continue for 0.65 mile over the crest of the hill and into the business end of High Street, over the speed bumps. Look out for the pedestrian crossing and turn right into the large tarmac car park immediately afterwards.
