We are the West Lancashire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A circular walk taking in Beacon Country Park and Golf Course; Ashurst Beacon and Roby Mill. A varied walk offering good views across several counties, weather permitting.
Although there are a few hills, we shall proceed at a leisurely pace, with a coffee stop en route.
A lot of the walk is on good tracks, although we will no doubt encounter some muddy conditions, so please ensure that you wear appropriate footwear.
Free parking at Beacon Country Park Visitor Centre (note near Skelmersdale), where there are also toilets and a cafe. Start from outside the Visitor Centre, Elmers Green Lane off Beacon Lane, Upholland, Wigan WN8 7RZ.
Important: There are two entrances to Elmers Green Lane, both dead-end roads. Please use the one signposted Beacon Country Park.
Dogs welcome as long as they are kept on a lead.
