Balerno to Water of Leith Visitor Centre

Our walk begins a few meters from Balerno High School.  We will follow Water of Leith Walkway, some of the walk is on muddy paths in wooded areas but most of the path is on well defined paths.  We will stop for a break at Spylaw Park.  We will then walk into Colinton Village to see Young Robert Louis Stephenson with his dog sculpted in bronze.  We will then follow a small poetry trail about Robert Louis Stephenson.  There is a Public Toilet in Colinton. The walk will take us through the Colinton Tunnel which is based on a poem by Robert Louis Stephenson “From a Railway Carriage”.  We will then take a diversion to the Walled Garden of Redhall.  This is a pleasant garden to sit in and where we can have lunch.  Once again we will continue to follow the Water of Leith Walkway to the Water of Leith Visitor Centre where our walk will end. We will return by Bus 44 £2 to Balerno.
