This walk will use parts of A Coventry Way and the Centenary Way. Starting from the Miners Welfare Park the walk will take us through former mining areas, fields and pastures to the little settlement of Barnacle, where we will have our coffee stop at the chapel. We will cross more fields and pastures to Hawkesbury Junction. This is a conservation area where two of Britain's earliest canals meet - the Coventry and Oxford. This will be our lunch stop, with the Greyhound pub nearby. Continuing along the Coventry Canal we will return to the park.
There is a cafe here where we can obtain refreshments after the walk.
The walk is level, with just a short incline near the end. We will use parkland, field and woodland fringe paths, tracks, canal towpaths and a short section of road.
There are toilets in the cafe and the pub, otherwise rural.
There are 5 stiles.
