The walk will take us from the City out to the 1651 Battlefield site at Powick and back.
From Cripplegate Park we pass the County Cricket Ground, to wollow the riverside path adjacent to the River Severn Swannery. Reaching the edge of the built up area we will follow field paths alongside the Rivers Severn and Teme with view of the Malvern Hills in the distance. We go through the battlefield site to Powis mill. We will then continue to meet the Severn, crossing the distinctive Diglis Bridge and follow the opposite bank of the river to Diglis Canal Basin - our lunch stop. There is a canal boat cafe and toilets here. Finally after following the river for a short way we will ascend to the Cathedral (which may be open) then head into the city centre, meeting a famous composer, before crossing the bridge back to the car park.
Post walk refreshments are available at a local hostelry.
We will use pavements, tarmacced paths and good field paths.
There are toilets at the start and at Diglis Basin. There are NO stiles.
