On arrival, Coffee at “Centro Lounge” over the road, with briefing for the visit.
11.30 Commence walk to Taylor’s Bell Foundry Museum.
11.45 Tour of museum ( note charge £5).
12.15 Leave for Queens Park via Nottingham Canal.
1.00 Arrive Queens Park; total walking distance 2 miles.
Eat packed lunch in the park. Listen to the bells of the Carillon being played. Visit the on-site museum, or whistle at the birds in the aviary.
Further new attraction which should be in operation:
The Hope Bell installed in the Park is a new clock chime installation comprising four quarter chime bells and the main Hope Bell to sound the hours.
About 1.30pm to 2.00pm Optional walk back to the bus via a bit more of the Nottingham Canal. Distance 2 miles.
Alternatively, take the short direct route to the bus 0.5 miles.
Take No.9 or No.1 bus back to Nottingham. The No. 1 bus is more frequent but takes the leisurely route!
Notes:
Toilets are available at Centro, Taylors, and in the Park. There is a café in the park and another across the road, if you forgot the packed lunch! The Carillon performs from 1 to 2pm.
Both museums are excellent, and the one in the park is free.
