With a surface area of just over 4 square miles, Rutland Water is the largest artificial lake in England and is the next best thing to a walk along the coast!
From the start of our walk, just beyond Hambleton Village, on the Hambleton Peninsula, we follow the field path down to the multi-user path that follows the shore of Rutland Water.
The walk circumnavigates the Hambleton Peninsular, giving views across to both the north and south shore. Weather dependent, this can provide a contrasting vista to the more familiar views of the lake taken in the summer.
Apart from two sections of grassy field path, the walk is on made-up surfaces. There are a couple of short steepish ascents and there may be some surface mud after rain in a few places. The multi-user path is shared with cyclists.
If you would like to join this walk please contact the Leader using the email link. Maximum number of walkers is 20.
Dogs are subject to bye-laws laid down by Anglian Water in that they must always be on a short lead and under close control. Sheep are often grazing on the open ground along this route.
There are 2 stiles
There are no facilities on this route.
As this is a short walk, there will be a coffee break and a picnic lunch can be eaten at Hambleton church just before the end of our walk.
