We are the Mid Berks Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
This is London walk starting from Reading and will involve travelling to London by train and tube and will incur a tour through the Royal Parks and Palaces of West London before heading back by train. This will be a longish day so bring a packed lunch.
This will be a leisurely walk but at a reasonable pace walking through Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park and St James's Park passing a number of notable palaces and monuments en-route There will be plenty of points of interest on the way so bring a camera and if we are lucky enough to have a sunny day, a peaked cap will be beneficial.
Meet at Reading Station South near the information desk. You will need to purchase an off-peak travel card zones 1-6 using a senior rail card or equivalent to obtain discounted fare. If you do not have a rail card, please let me know beforehand and we can obtain a group travel rate. Please ensure that you bring a packed lunch (sandwiches available at the station) and water. Meet at 09:20 at the very latest with a ticket or beforehand if you need to purchase one. For a group travel ticket all need to be present to purchase the ticket. We aim to catch a direct Paddington train leaving after 9:30.
It is expected that we will be at Kensington High St Underground station at approximately 11 am but this will depend on the transport situation.
Charing Cross Underground station is the expected destination before we head back to Reading but this may vary depending on the progress. We expect the walk to finish before 3pm but this does not include the journey back to Reading
