Walking in Mid Berks and beyond
We are one of six Ramblers Groups in Berkshire Area. We cover an area to the west of Reading, roughly between the M4 and the Hampshire border. We have the Thames Path near to hand, the Berkshire Downs and the Ridgeway, North Hampshire and South Oxfordshire, including the Chiltern Way, and the jewel of the Hambledon Valley to the east. Plenty of superb walking for all abilities.
Our walks
We aim to provide two walks each Sunday, one of 10 miles or more, and one shorter walk. We also offer a shorter walk each Thursday morning. All are welcome on our walks - bring a packed lunch etc. for walks over 5 miles. Parking tends to be roadside or in car parks - car sharing is encouraged but you need to arrange this yourself.
We also schedule shorter strolls for the less nimble, often using public transport to the start / finish. These are more frequent in the warmer weather, and sometimes take place on summer evenings.
Unfortunately, we do not currently have walks suitable to people with limited mobility.
In addition, we aim to offer two holidays a year, normally four nights' accommodation and three full days walking or other activities. You can see photo records of some of our holidays, and walks, on our website.
