Why not join us in the beautiful Shropshire countryside for this hilly walk, taking in The Lawley and then on to Caer Caradoc, returning via the Hope Bowdler Ridge and the Battle Stones to our starting point in the pretty village of Cardington. The two main hills present a good challenge in the middle of the walk and there is the added benefit of being able to view the first part from the return ridge maintaining interest.
We plan to have two stops on this walk and will repair to a local PH for refreshments at the end.
There are no toilets at the start of the walk, but public toilets are available at the meeting point.
The route takes some minor roads but is mostly on good footpaths and grassy tracks with not too much mud underfoot. There are some stiles on the route but these are mostly well maintained and straight forward to negotiate. The hills are prone to windy weather so walking poles and strong footwear will be beneficial, particularly on the steeper descent sections.
The walk will start from the Village Hall car park in Cardington (£2 Honesty box) but parking is also for the village Church and given it is a Sunday parking may be limited. Attendees should car share and meet initially at the Co-Op car park in Church Stretton (walkers encouraged and parking is free) we can then regroup into a smaller number of cars and drive on to Cardington.
