Starting in the village of Whaley Bridge, this picturesque walk takes us to places often passed through by car without a second thought; yet having the time to walk along paths, lanes up hills and across fields makes you fully appreciate the surrounding beauty this small section of the Derbyshire High Peak and Cheshire border has to offer.
The walk takes us from the centre of Whaley Bridge to Kettleshulme via Taxal. We then walk up to Sponds Hill which is situated on the Gritstone Trail before heading over Taxal Moor with Windgather Rocks above. We then head back into Whaley Bridge via Horwich End and have the opportunity to view the repair work being carried out on the Toddbrook Reservoir dam, which in August 2019 showed signs of potential collapse after heavy rain, causing the evacuation of a number of residents.
