This is an easy walk of just over 5 miles with pleasant views of the River Wansbeck’s estuary, Cambois and the Wansbeck riverside. The vast majority of the walk is on good paths with a small section walking on the beach (approximately a quarter of a mile).
The walk heads toward the River Wansbeck and crosses over the river at a barrage with a navigation lock. We then loop towards the beach and round the estuary back to the riverside path. We follow the Wansbeck Riverside path upstream to stop for lunch and then retrace our steps back to the barrage and back to Cambois beach.
The walk is relatively flat with just two short inclines and no stiles.
Toilets are available before and after at The Shack (attached to Charlton's bar) which will be open before the walk for breakfast snacks. After the walk Charlton's pub will be open and The Shack will be serving eat in or take away fish and chips.
