walkers standing beside a wall of a lake

Welcome to the Northumbria Short Circuits group.

We specialise in shorter walks of 4-6.5 miles at a leisurely pace in Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and Durham, to suit most abilities.

Newcomers are made to feel very welcome by our friendly group. Join us for short walks to explore our local Northumbrian countryside and get fit while having fun!

Walks are usually fortnightly on alternate Saturdays and start at 10:30 am unless stated otherwise.  They normally finish between 2 and 3 pm and we usually manage a picnic lunch stop on the way, so please bring sufficient food and drink with you.

Walks are free of charge to Ramblers members.  Up to three taster walks can be taken free of charge to potential members, after which you will need to subscribe to The Ramblers to join other walks.

There is no organised transport so we make our own arrangements for travel to and from our walks (some will be accessible by Bus and/or Metro).

All of our walks are of Ramblers grade easy or leisurely, sometimes verging on moderate

Next walk Saturday 4th January 2025 - Wallsend to Newcastle linear walk.

Campaign with us - protect the places we walk

Walking is a simple pleasure that should be open to everyone, so we campaign to remove barriers to walking and we protect the places we love to wander.
