I will catch the 09.11 from Finsbury Park Station. There are also trains from King's Cross and Tottenham Hale stations. Buy a cheap Day Return to Waterbeach.
Meet outside Cambridge Station at 10.11.
We start through the terraced back steets of Cambridge for a little over one mile. Then east and north along the south bank of the River Cam and a small diversion through Fen Ditton. Soon back to the riverside until Baits Bite Lock where we strike east into Horningsea for lunch at the Plough and Fleece (five miles from the start). There is a small cemetery with benches for picnics and a cafe in the garden centre opposite the pub. Please bear in mind that most of us (all last year!) will be enjoying Christmas lunch in the pub which is three courses so will clearly last well over the hour.

On leaving the pub we walk along a short paved section of road and a number of fields before crossing the bridge at Clayhithe for the final stretch bordering a wood to Waterbeach Station.
The whole route is level, on hard paths or across fields, but with ice and/or mud probable in places.
