The walk heads south out of Ely, crossing Cawdle Fen to bring us to Little Thetford for our lunch stop. We return to Ely along Grunty Fen Drain and the River Great Ouse, finishing at the Cutter Inn for drinks.
Meet outside Ely Cathedral (Postcode CB7 4DL, Grid reference TL540802) at 11:00. If coming by train, take the 10:05 from Cambridge (10:09 from Cambridge North), arriving in Ely at 10:25. The Cathedral is up the hill from the station and is very easy to spot; I will be on the train as well in case anyone needs help with the directions. For those driving, the nearest car parks are at Ship Lane (CB7 4BB) and Barton Road (CB7 4HZ).
Please note that there are no shops on the route, so make sure that you have a packed lunch and something to drink before arriving at Ely Cathedral. For those coming by train, there is a large branch of Tesco by Ely Station; I have allowed plenty of time between the train arriving and the start of the walk for anyone to pick up provisions here on the way to the Cathedral.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome as long as they can manage stiles.
Parts of the walk may be muddy so please make sure that you have suitable footwear.
Please make sure that you allow plenty of time to buy tickets as the machines can be very busy.
