Overview

Note: if you need to get in contact, please text the number shown.  Please do not email as it is unlikely I will see it.

This is the shorter version of my Cefn Yr Ystrad walks.  Starting at the lay by to the west of the bridge between the Penywyn and Pontsticill reservoirs, we will cross the bridge and follow the path south between the Brecons Mountain Railway and Pontsticill reservoir, likely stopping at the railway station for refreshments.  Shortly after reaching the base of the reservoir, we will start to climb, skirting the side of Cefn Yr Ystrad and walking to the quarry.  From there we will head north to a track returning to the bridge and start point via Dol-y-gaer.

In good weather, this walk gives good views across most of the Breacon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) without the need to expend significant effort.  There is one steep climb from the base of the reservoir, but it flattens out fairly quickly.
