Overview

A pleasant, relatively mud-free, walk predominantly along gently sloping farm tracks passing through woodland and open country. Starting near Chalton and progressing NE along the Staunton Way to Ditcham Park School. From there the route turns SW to Ladyholt and from there to Cowdown Lane/Compton Down Road followed by Robin Wood, Old Idsworth and Huckswod Lane.

There is one stile and one pedestrian gate. Although easy walking be aware that there is one short and steep section for which walking poles are recommended as the underlying ground is of chalk. In the event of inclement weather the walk can be shortened to 6 miles - decision to be made on the day. Packed lunch required. Walking time is three hours - four in total with stops.
