Following the Roman road we head to, and join, the Wessex Ridgeway. This climbs up to the Cherhill Monument. This is a steady climb. From the monument we descend to the village of Calstone Wellington. There is a climb, which is steep in parts, back up to the Roman road .
It will be muddy and likely to be slippery. Sticks or poles are recommended.
On a fine day there are good views.
