This walk includes both waterside and countryside, on level paths. Starting from Chichester Train Station, it continues the full length of Chichester Canal to Chichester Marina where there will be a coffee stop (after approx 4 miles). There may be the chance of seeing the Lock Gate operating here, allowing vessels in/out of Chichester Harbour. There are also toilet facilities at this location. The walk continues from this point towards Dell Quay which will be the lunch stop (at 6 miles), with glorious views of the harbour and sailing yachts on the way. In the afternoon, the walk heads through open countryside towards Chichester via Hunston to rejoin the canal and head back to the start.
Please bring a picnic.
Part of the route is duplicated along the Chichester Canal, towards the end of the walk. Chichester Station Car Park offers a special Sunday day rate for parking, currently at £2.80 (but this will increase at the beginning of April). The train service from Worthing is every half hour, with a train arriving a couple of minutes before the start of the walk. No dogs, please.
