We are the Medway Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
From the RSPB car park we head off through Cliffe and out onto the Cliffe Marshes. Continue across the Marshes until we get to the boundary of Cooling Marshes. From here we will start to walk back towards Cliffe Pools alongside the River Thames with views across to Canvey Island, Stanford-le-hope and Tilbury. We will then finish the walk by taking a footpath which goes between the Salt Pools with a chance to see some wildlife. Mainly Rabbits and birds. There will be two breaks around 10 to 15 minutes each on the walk. One on the Marshes and the second on the Riverside Wall. There will be a few extra short viewing stops for water on the day if hot. Please bring a packed lunch. Please note there are no public toilets on route and the terrain is very open so limited comfort hiding spots. The walk will finish at approximately 15:00 pm.
Terrain: Flat across Marshland. Can be a bit boggy in places so waterproof walking boots recommended. There are a number of styles in poor condition to negotiate and some steps up a steep embankment to the riverside wall.
Meet and park at RSPB Car Park, Salt Lane, Cliffe. There is no postcode that will take you directly to the car park. What three words is packet.wiring.transfers. Alternatively head to Salt Lane, Cliffe in Sat Nav. Carry on down the lane past the gravel works on your left until you come to a mini roundabout. Go straight across and the entrance to the car park is immediately on your right.
