Overview

The walk takes up towards Starve Knoll, then through Roach Wood, joining the White Horse trail to descend reach Highway.  The route then passes through fields, and along a pretty stream into the village of Hilmarton and on to Freeth Farm, before returning to Compton Bassett.    The walk uses, footpaths, bridleways, and quiet lanes.  There is on steep ascent and a similar descent.  Expect stiles and some mud.

Sticks may also be useful.  There may be livestock enroute. Bring refreshments for one stop.  We will be back for lunch.
