Overview

A circular figure of eight walk taking in the pretty villages of Woollard and Pensford. It is mainly on footpaths and forest tracks, including sections on the Two Rivers Way and the Community Forest Path, with road sections through the villages. The terrain is undulating throughout the walk.

The morning coffee stop will be at  Publow Church, where local celebrity Acker Bilk is buried. In Pensford, we will pass a bench dedicated to his memory and an old single cell lock-up. After lunch we will pass under the Pensford viaduct built in the 1870s and last used for rail traffic in 1964. Lunch will be sat the church in Stanton Drew.

Although there are pubs in Pensford and Stanton Drew they are likely to be either closed or busy, so please bring food and drink for the day. The Compton Inn will still be open when we get back.
