Overview

An incredible variety of scenic and historic attractions are packed into this absorbing walk. The natural wonders include the narrow Derwent gorge, High Tor with its optional high level path on 'Giddy Edge' clinging to the cliff face - a poor man's 'via ferrata', the impressive Black Rock above Cromford. Equally fascinating is the mill settlement of Cromford and the railway incline dropping to the Cromford Canal.

The entire walk is on good  woodland paths and tracks with some quiet lanes but with several steep climbs, some on engineered steps. As far as I can remember there are no stiles.
