From the car park at Cudham, we head south down New Barn Lane and up to the top of the Downs. Then it's west on the North Downs Way for a while, branching off to Tatsfield for lunch. About 5 miles and 500 ft/150m of ascent.
In the afternoon, we go north east towards South Street and Berry's Green before climbing back up to Cudham. About 3½ miles and 450ft/140m of ascent.
A little shorter and closer to home and so more suitable for a winter walk. The morning walk is a mostly gentle ascent but kicking up a bit to get to the top of the Downs. The reward is good views when you get there. The afternoon is a bit more up and down but there are no very long climbs.
Lunch at Tatsfield is either at Ye Old Ship Inn or at the nice little picnic spot by the duck pond. Sheree's Store and Tea Room is on hand but has idiosyncratic opening times - see picture. (If you've misplaced your specs it says "Wednesday 7am to 4pm - closed 1200-1230pm".)
