Please note early start.
This is an interesting, varied, walk with (hopefully) good views. Cymer means the joining of two rivers and sits at the confluence of Afon Afan and Afon Corrwg in a spectacular steep-sided valley. When the mines were open Cymer had 3 railways linking to Port Talbot, Briton Ferry docks, Bridgend, Swansea and beyond. We will see some wonderful bridges.
Our walk takes us along the old railway route to Glyncorrwg, we will stop for coffee by the small lakes. From Glyncorrwg we have a steep climb into the forestry and over to the wind turbines by Cefn Maur, it is wild up there with great views.
We join St. Illtyd's Way then descend through Cwm Cregan and down to Afon Afan via Abercregan and back into Cymer.
Much of the route is easy walking but the climb into the forestry is quite demanding and some sections are very uneven under foot.
I hope you can join us.
Chris and Nicki.
