Overview

A strenuous 15 mile walk into the middle of northern Dartmoor. The route will be Fernworthy Forest, Sittaford Tor, Winney's Down, Cut Hill, Fur Tor, back to Cut Hill, then North West Passage Peat Pass, Flat Tor, Sandy Hole Pass, Stannon Tor and back into Fernworthy Forest. Just to emphasise - the walk is long and strenuous. We will be walking across open moorland where the terrain underfoot will be rough and tummocky at times.

There will be a charge for using the Fernworthy Reservoir Car Park. However, on the day, if there is enough space to park at the end of the road at grid reference SX 659839 then we will move the cars and start from here instead. For the moment though, assume the walk starts in the reservoir car park as shown on the map. I expect the walk to finish at around 7pm.

If you would like to come and live in the Exeter area then I can give up to three people a lift. You can email me at
