Overview

Derwent Valley area

A moderate 5 mile circular walk, with 3 stiles, starting in Burnopfield, climbing gently through Burnopfield woods to Mountsett, then going on to a hill top near White-le-Head with views over the Derwent Valley and towards the sea, weather permitting. The walk finishes at St Leonards, Leazes Villas NE16 6HW where light refreshments will be served. The walk is muddy, also please note there are nettles and brambles +++ so thick trousers are highly recommended. The vegetation is long and likely to be wet, so waterproofs should be considered. On the walk we will follow old wagonways and may come across wild orchids. No toilets or conveniences along the way, but there are plenty of bushes.
