We are the Inverness Young Walkers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
An easy social winter walk! A lovely gentle stroll along the southern canal towpath from Inverness to Dochgarroch Locks (just under 4 miles, about 1.5 hours). We’ll go to An Talla at Dochgarroch for lunch/coffee, and maybe Miele’s for ice-cream, if it’s not too cold! We’ll return to Inverness via the northern canal path. It's lovely and peaceful along the canal (but watch out for cyclists!) and there's often the chance to spot wildlife and boats.

Flat even canal path, possibly some muddy spots.

Bus number 2 from Academy St at 10 a.m. will get you to the Tomnahurich Cemetery gates on Glenurquhart Road for 10.07 a.m., then it’s about an 8-minute walk to the meeting point at the Inverness Leisure/Botanic Gardens car park.
