Hidden in the hills between Dolwyddelan and Penmachno is an old farmhouse, Tŷ Mawr Wybrnant. This was the birthplace of William Morgan who was the first translator of the entire Bible into Welsh. The 16th century house is now owned by the National Trust and has been restored to close to its original state. The house itself is closed to visitors at this time of year but the grounds, with some information boards, are open to the public. Today’s walk follows quiet lanes, tracks and footpaths through fields, forest and woodland, beside streams and over rough moorland. Along the way we’ll pass Tŷ Mawr and have an opportunity to visit the grounds.
