This is a lovely combination of woodland and downland paths, with good views. We start by heading west from The Dover Car Park and taking some of the better tracks we zig-zag through the woods to meet the Monarch's Way, then round New Down and dropping to the edges of Wepham and Burpham. We then climb Coombe Lane to Wepham Down and Burpham Hill, then down to Michelgrove Park to re-join the Monarch's Way before returning to the car park.
While the woodland paths are generally good some of the downland tracks are quite muddy and slippery so sturdy footwear with a good grip is essential and poles are recommended. Bring a picnic lunch.

The Dover Car Park. Note this can only be accessed from the eastbound carriageway of the A27 so when coming from Brighton it is necessary to drive to Poling Corner, then make a U-turn, following the signs to Worthing and Brighton, Dover Lane is the next left turn and is signposted. The car park is at the end of the public road, on the right.
