Overview

Walkers must book in advance with the walk leader

A different walk alongside the River Leven as, for a change, we do not follow the cycle path but stay on the east bank until Renton. Thereafter we cross the muir to Cardross where we catch a train back to Dumbarton.

Leaving the railway station, follow the east bank of the River Leven upstream to Renton. Then northwest towards Asker Farm passing the Carman Reservoir and Carman Muir. At the farm turn southwest passing Kilmahew Castle, Kilmahew House and then on to Cardross.

Local Grade: C+

Terrain: Mostly dirt paths, sometimes muddy and overgrown with some boggy sections. Some good farm tracks.
