Walkers must book in advance with the walk leader
A walk to the highest point in the Kilpatrick Hills visiting a dramatic geological feature en-route.
From Queen’s View car park, we follow the hill path to the Whangie and onwards to Burncrooks Reservoir. We then take the track around the north and west of the reservoir, cross the dam and join a hill path to Lily Loch and Duncolm. Our return is by similar route but we take the path round the south and east of the Burncrooks Reservoir.
Local Grade: B
Terrain: Muddy hill paths with a few boggy bits on moorland paths. Excellent path around Burncrooks Reservoir. Most ascents are gradual except for a final steep ascent up to Duncolm summit.
Max height: 401 m.
Maps covering route of walk: OS Landranger No. 64.
