This walk explores "permissive" paths opened up over the last 40 years by Enfield Council. "Permissive" means they are not recorded rights of way, but they are open to the public on Enfield owned land.
Starting from Trent Park, the walk will head north along the newish cycle trail in the Salmons Brook valley (part of the London Loop). After crossing the Ridgeway, there is a very recently opened trail alongside Turkey Brook, joining the old permissive footpaths to skirt the east side of Holly Hill Farm (not the overgrown side) and across the M25. The path through woodland beside Coopers Lane Road was originally another Enfield permissive path. It is now a recorded and well surfaced Hertfordshire bridleway. We'll head from there up to Northaw for picnic lunch and a quick pub stop, before returning via Five Acre Wood to the old permissive routes alongside Stagg Hill and back to Trent Park.
Bring a picnic. Brief pub stop for a drink. Optional car share from Barnet: Victor's Way Car Park, EN5 5TR, leaving 09:30
