Starting at St Mary's Church in Everton we will complete the picturesque circular walk via the Roman Road, Tetworth Hall, Gamlingay and back to the Church , following Greensand Ridge, through Woodbury Park and Storey Farm.
The earliest parts of the Church date from mid 12th Century, when it was rebuilt, but was mentioned in the Domesday Survey, 1086 . The Church is usually open on a Saturday. The Thornton pub in Everton offers drinks , facilities and food at designated times.
The views from the Greensand Ridge, as one descends steeply down the grassy route to the Roman Road, are breathtaking. Then it is an easy, level path along this ancient road. After rains, parts of route can be somewhat muddy. Walking eastward towards the stately Tetworth Hall, built in the Queen Anne style, the route ascends up the hill back up to Gamlingay on the Greensand Ridge.
Following the Greensand Ridge path in south westerly direction, through Woodbury Park and Storey Farm, we will return to our starting point in Everton. This section is level, with one path through a small barley field. It is an easy walk with one reasonably steep rise at Tetworth.
