Overview

The walk starts along the Union Canal towpath to Bonnybridge, then makes its way through housing and along pavements and roads up to Rough Castle Roman fort and the Antonine Wall. The route then passes through woodland, which could be muddy, and then drops down to Watling Lodge, with the best preserved section of the Antonine Wall, and back to the Falkirk Wheel through woodland parallel to the Union Canal. There are some narrow country roads without pavements.
