The main part of this walk takes place in an estuary setting. We start off by walking through the attractive market town of Faversham, with it's pedestrianised thoroughfare and bustling Saturday market, soon reaching the Saxon Shore Way, where we walk along a raised embankment next to Faversham Creek, eventually arriving at the village of Oare for lunch. There are three choices for lunch at Oare. The Castle has a traditional and appetising menu. Further along The Three Mariners has a restaurant offering more expensive food, and the Cafe By The Creek offers lighter snacks. There are also areas for picnickers nearby.
After lunch we continue the walk through long fields and low hills to the hamlet of Luddenham, where it's possible to visit a medieval church. From Luddenham we continue through fields and marshland (walker friendly), to reach the sea wall of The Swale, with a view of the Isle of Sheppey across the water. We continue again along the Saxon Shore Way between Oare and Nagden marshes, on our way back to Oare, and finally Faversham.
To date, I haven't booked places for lunch at The Castle, until I have an indication of how many might be interested. If anyone would like a meal at The Castle, please email or 'phone me.
For travelling to the walk, catch the 09:10 from Victoria station, arriving at Faversham at 10:25
