Overview

Starting from the car park at Gawthorpe Hall  (currently closed} we will walk down into Padiham for a quick visit, then continue  along the Burnley Way before crossing the river to continue on the Bronte Way and back to the estate.

We  will go through the Centenary Gardens where there are sculptures by John Haworth. There are further sculptures when we reach Grove Lane Plantation where we will follow the track of the old coal ginny railway. The rails are carved with poems by schoolchildren and writers, Deer may be spotted.

There are public toilets near the Town Hall, and pubs and cafes in Padiham, but all facilities are closed at the Hall

The walk is fairly flat but there are a couple of fields to cross .
