Overview

This walk is for up to 30 people, including the leader.

Join us for the first of two walks from Biggleswade today, for a figure of eight walk in the quiet countryside of central Bedfordshire. You're welcome to join either of the walks or both if you want to get some extra miles in. This walk has been organised for National #GetOutside Day, founded by Ordnance Survey, which encourages people to get outside and appreciate nature, discover new places and improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

If you’re new to countryside walking, or haven’t been to many group walks, this one is for you - the walk will take just 2 or 3 hours and will will give newcomers the chance to find out more about Stag Walkers and the Ramblers. Regular walkers are also invited to attend who'd like to welcome others to enjoy the outdoors with us.

In this walk we will explore Jubilee Wood, located east of Biggleswade, and planted to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

We will use mostly footpaths as we make our way out of town from the station and walk part of the Biggleswade Green Wheel, before we head to Jubilee wood.

The woodland is made almost completely of native trees, such as oak, sweet and horse chestnut, and birch. We will also walk past an orchard with hundreds of apple and pear trees.

On the way back we will rejoin the Green Wheel before making our way into town through the new estate. If you're staying for the afternoon walk you're welcome to join the walk leader for a packed lunch, and perhaps a tipple in the local craft beer shop if time allows.

Dogs are welcome on a lead.

For information about walking with the group, including our dog policy, please visit the Stag Walkers website.

Booking your place: Please book your place using the free Meetup website/app. Join the Stag Walkers Meetup group and click the 'Attend' button on the event page.

Please do not turn up for a walk without booking, as places are limited.

If the walk is fully booked, click 'join waitlist' to get a place if one becomes available and please check back regularly in case you do get a place. The waitlist gives priority to single bookings so if you wish to bring a guest, we recommend booking separately.

Unless you opt in to further communications, we will only use contact information you provide to get in touch about the walk.
